Does anyone use a groundsheet for bivvy duty? I've used poly' sheet before but they do start to get quite battered/ripped after a couple of nights.
I'm just part way through knocking up a bathtub groundsheet for under a tarp, MK1 will be fairly heavy at around 350g but if it stands some abuse I'll make a lighter one.
Anyone else bother with one?

Groundsheets?

Re: Groundsheets?
I'm hoping the recent purchase of a full length neoair will negate that decision of needing to take the polycro groundsheet or not.
When the ground is absolutely sodden, trying to get changed into dry evening clothing on just a short mat is always a game!

Exactly Anthony, If I'm using my RAB Assault bivvy it's not as issue as the things massive and the base is pretty much a groundsheet. If I use a Moonlite bag then it's like a solo game of twister

Integral Designs Solo Groundsheet, but my bivvy bag is a PHD nylon sleeping bag cover, wouldn't use it with the Bugabivvy as that has a decent base.

Did you order the Moonlight at the mega F+T deal then Stuart? Tiny aren't they!!

Yea, F+T for £50 ... given the size and weight it's hard to believe it works

Re: Groundsheets?
What amazes me is that it weighs 178g for quite a lot of quite sturdy fabric. Why can't I buy a jacket that uses far less fabric for far less weight and an even smaller pack size??
I got mine for £50 earlier in the year and it has seen some good service up to date. I'm on it's limit height wise.

Re: Groundsheets?
I use a bit of old tent groundsheet, originally cut to protect my balloon bed when I started using it ouside of my bivibag (some balloon bed users might've noticed that the balloon bed rolls around with you when you're asleep, leaving you lying on your side, the balloon bed on your back, and no insulation between you and the ground)
It's about 20" wide and 7/8ths of my body length. It rolls up small so I've been using it with other sleeping mats as well just to keep the groundwater from seeping into my pillow, etc.
Here's the tent I cut it from, shortly before it was abandoned by the Clevedon Crew at the CLIC 24......
