Took a bit of searching but I wasn't dreaming, this thread does exist...
Having been out on the Monstercrosser yesterday riding Dorset and Wiltshire's muddiest drove roads, I find myself dreaming of some bottle s*** deflectors so I don't have to keep relocating my bottle into my back pocket, resort to the camelback or fit full mudguards.
Any chance these deflectors went into production? I suspect not as I can't find them on the shop page.
The other option is to get a bottle with a lid on. I use an elite bottle with a lid if I want to protect the spout from mud, but also have the special lid to go on a camelbak podium bottle (but I've yet to use it)

Would love to.

I use Podium bottles but didn't know they existed, thanks. Looks like it might be a two-handed operation to remove / refit though (expecting that it'll be covered in s*** so I don't want to pull it off with my teeth).
I'm going to try making something similar using plastic drainpipe but with more holes on the long section so that it doubles as a water bottle cage mover downer.

Think you'll need something thicker than drainpipe Colin. I can't see it taking a thread very well or supporting the weight of a bottle.

I was hoping that it might work if only moving it by a couple of cm. I know it wouldn't take a thread so it would have to have a small nut behind*
