Alfine 11 to an On One Inbred frame

Post by nobby »

Has anybody done this?
Using the 'correct' anti rotation washers for horizontal slots the outer cable stop on the cassette joint doesn't clear the chain stay. I'm reluctant to modify the chain stay with a large hammer.

Wildgecko on here had the same problem with his alfine 8 that he resolved.
He's not on here often so try pm-ing him if you want a reply.

Cheers - will do although the arm on the 8 is a lot shorter the on the 11.

Hi Nobby,

I have a Alfine 8 in a vertical dropout One-One Scandal 29er. I run the cable down the seat stay rather than the chainstay. It's a while since I set it up and I'm not at home at the mo to take a look at what I did, but I think I used Green and Blue anti turn washers. Not sure how available these are, but they may give you a better routing. I had to bend the arm a little so it cleared the chain, but it runs fine.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Si

The green and blue washers are the standards for vertical dropouts and if I use them with the 11 cable routing along the seat stay is an option. The thumb grip for the cable release, however, then catches the chain stay! That's plastic though and can be filed down.
I'm wondering about cutting the cable stop off and clamping one to the chain stay. I had to do that when I put an Alfine in my Brompton last year.

Thanks for your help. I'll mull it over tonight and attack it in the morn :)

Went for the option of least butchery with blue and green washers, and ran the cable down the chain stay.
Works fine in the repair frame :)

Cheers
