On-One Fat bike pre-order.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Just noticed that the long awaited On One fat bike is available to pre-order. Price is as promised, £999.99 and the spec looks okay.

If these had been made available earlier in the year I might have been tempted but I've talk myself out of one in the last few months ... really can't see when or where I'd ride it.

Anyone ordering one?

interested - yes.

ordering - no.

surely it won't be too long to wait until it's available as a frame/fork only option (although they've said that there's no immediate plan for that to happen)???

also, as they're not selling any of the kit on it's own yet, if you write-off a component there's no way to replace it like-for-like which is a bit worrying.

for example: if your tyres go then your only option at the moment would be to pay through the nose for a Surly replacement.

looks nice though!

Looks like it would have worked well over a significant amount of last weekends BB200 route,
especially the bridleway after Strata Florida - wonder whether it would just have floated over that bit ?

another thing.....

the fact that a 'budget' fat-bike is coming onto the market (especially another fat-tyre manufacturer) can only be a good thing.

it'll also mean more people getting introduced to the idea as well as more parts on the 2nd hand market for us to hoover up on STW as people tyre of 'the next big thing'.

it's all good!

I've asked Santa but I don't reckon he'll come up with the goods :(

More gears would have been good, wonder if it will run a double up front without tyre clearance / chainline issues

I really want one. Having never ridden a fat bike before, are they slower because of the wheel/tyre size?

Tried one last weekend, would say its draggier. Mahoosive amounts of grip produced, especially over roots and the like. That said the tyres themselves are quite weighty, but negate the need for any suspension

Hmmmm. Most of my riding is fast xc stuff that I use my hardtail for. Maybe a fat bike isn't for me.....

It's looking really tempting concindering the VAT free price & delivery to here, but would have liked some rack mounts on it for a OMM rack. Could always have some fitted later I guess
