'down' type jacket for bivvying?

Alpkit filo is out of stock for a while, and I don't want to spend a fortune on one. Something packable and warm, not bothered about it being down or synthetic. Any suggestions?.

What sort of temp's are you expecting and what kind of £?

The uniqlo stuff seems popular, although I don't know how warm they are.

If you're looking for something that'll handle a bit more 'weather' I'd suggest having a shop around for a RAB Infinity. Should be available for about £130 and oh so very warm and toasty

Pricewise, around the sub 100 quid mark, and I'd like to try the 'bivvy a month' in 2013, so pretty cold!. Looking at a montane prism at the moment.

I'd be wanting something a bit warmer than a Prism for winter ... although I might be soft.

Uniqlo is nice. I just got a vest for £40. It's a "thin" down though. You'd need two layers of it to get close to the warmth rating of an Alpkit filo I reckon (I accept that's totally subjective).

However, two layers will only set you back c.£90 which would get a vest and one size up jacket. That'd be a great combo IMO as the possibilities of matching to weather, weight, bulk and year round use would be better than a single, "deeper winter", down jacket like the filo.

All depends how cold you get though, and what other gear you carry, etc etc.

I've a Montane Prism and a Uniqlo parka, I reckon the Prism is easily as warm, but it is heavier, benefit of the Prism is that it will still work if damp.

I've ridden in the winter in my Prism, which you couldn't do with a down jacket and it worked pretty well.
