Bars

Post by Chew »

Thinking of trying some different bars. The ones i have are fairly straight and after lots of crusing around either my fingers or wrists can ache.

Looking for some wide riser bars (still want control on the downs), but looking for something a bit more sweepy. Looked at Mary bars but not sure how they would work fitting lights/gps/harness.

Any suggestions?

What d45yth said.

Mary's have a funny bend that comes straight off the stem clamp area, and as such can be tricky to bolt stuff too. Carnegie's address this while giving a much more ergonomic angle for your wrists.

Except you won't get a set until September !!
Salsa flat bars are excellent - currently riding the 11 degree bends but think they also do a 17.
Price for the alloy versions is also pretty reasonable and no hassle with fitting lights etc..

I'm trying upside down mary bars just now taped up with road tape. Only been a week but I rather like the shape. This is my 1st go at sweep bars and I didn't want to spend out for Jones loops and a new stem.

My lights are helmet mounted but I suppose my gps will be at a funny angle when I have my sleeping bag on the bars, not tried it yet

I've just spent a couple of hours messing about with bars. After numerous pairs I'm back where I started with a pair of Fleegles

Have just fitted On One Mungo bars to the singlespeed, certainly not everyones cup of tea but so far I'm liking them ;)

Got 17 degree on my 69er. Been there a few years and certainly no reason to change them ... they're very nice.

They had a set of the 17° Salsas in All Terrain at Salts Mill last weekend. Felt a bit weird to me, but then, so did the Jones bars I used to use. They might be another suggestion, if Biff's got any in stock. The Loop bars have loads of space for hanging stuff!

Love my Jones Loop bars on the Fargo, but just dont seem to work for me on the HT were they feel flexy when your wrestling through the techy stuff.

Liked Mary's on the HT though, but as others have said bit narrow and not much room for attaching stuff. So just got a set of Carnegies to see if these solve the problem.
