Re: First attempt...
Thanks for responses, so the cooking kit is simply an Alpkit brukit I've had for some time (bit like a jetboil) and plastic spork! I've got the tent poles and pegs in the frame bag. I think I could get a lighter drysac for the sleeping bag as the one I have is too big and it's heavy. I'd hoped the s...

First attempt...
61765AB1-4718-408A-BA6E-DD69D03E7CA1.jpeg So trial ride today with my provisional bikepacking set up. Surprised at how much extra weight but didn't affect handling massively. So breakdown is Wild Country Panacea 2 tent between handlebars, poles and pegs in frame bag. Big Agnes Rapide sleep mat and ...

Re: What are you reading now?
Newlyweds arrived "Cook Out" by the Fell Foodie. Really impressed with the book and OK it's not one to read cover to cover, a great outdoor persons cook book if you don't just want dehydrated pasta on tour adventures!

Re: Newbie bikepacking tent advice
So considered all the options and did a load of Internet research and then popped into local outdoor store to try a few options as they had some up on display. Came across a Wild Country Panacea 2 which I liked in terms of size. Not lightest or smallest pack size but figure I can attach the poles to...

Re: Newbie bikepacking tent advice
Thank you all for the replies. I had considered the Alpkit soloist xl but it didn't seem quite big enough. Lots of good suggestions.
In terms of weight unless in dramatically lose weight a few hundred grams on a tent isn't going to make a huge difference!

Newbie bikepacking tent advice
Hi all, I'm a newbie bikepacker looking to explore my local area before moving further afield. I realise there are bivvy and tarp options but I'm looking for tent suggestions. I'm 6'2 and not that slim, and using a long/wide big Agnes mat, so I'm looking for a tent with decent size sleeping area and...
