Re: Bag or pants?!
… my upper legs were stupidly cold. This is what gets me, even at temperature way above those you mention. Like the rest of my body can be absolutely fine but bitterly cold thighs will wake me on a chilly night. I've never worked out if it's just a post-exercise thing or perhaps even related to ner...

Re: Todays ride
A last longish one before HT550. Riding steady over towards Hawes then looping back around and up over Cam High Road where I set up camp for the night before taking a Dales Divide-ish route back west at first light.

Re: Bag or pants?!
Imma say no, but I feel the cold way more than I used to. I actually picked up some OMM insulated trews early on in the year, the ones with the Full Monty stripper style zip that'll convert into a bag, to wear in my -6º bag to keep my legs warm, having repeatedly been woken due to having cold thighs...

Re: Lakeland 200 starting point
Logistically, Pooley Bridge makes sense, but perhaps try and work out where that'll leave you overnight and decide if you want to be tackling that in the dark. As mentioned up there somewhere ↑ it all needs riding whatever, but some stretches are definitely easier in the daylight from a navigation ...

Re: Lakeland 200 starting point
. If the local water gets low, are the food stops very few and far between? With water levels being low, I'd not trust any 'local water' without a full filter set up—they're a bit manky. You should be ok if you top up everywhere you can water-wise though, and depending on time of day you're never m...

Kinda related, just spotted these on STW. Grips that add 3° by way of being internally angled. https://www.freewheel.co.uk/pro-e-contr ... -prsgp0077

Re: Lakeland 200 starting point
I was out riding a loop which included the last, if going from Staveley, ~75km of LL200 today, wanting to get a bit of hike-a-bike training in, so some recce for you: dry, so dry! So fast, but pretty unforgiving and I’m feeling a bit beaten up. I’d forgotten just how horrible the climb to Hayeswater...

I just went from Kyotes to the 20º Persuaders, trimmed down to 780mm and like them very much. The Kyotes didn't play nicely with bar bag or roll. The Cumbrian wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 4:33 pm Tumbleweed Persuaders have 50mm rise and either 20º or 30º of sweep, depending on the model.

Re: Lakeland 200 starting point
Haha, I think that will probably be a similar story for my attempt.! Well done on getting inside the time, how much time do you think you lost with mechanicals? I'm expecting a slow slog but is 40 hours reasonably do-able for a sensibly-paced ride/push with a few hours sleep? There will have been s...

Re: Lakeland 200 starting point
I'm still chuckling at this understatement … …you get a bit of a warm up (including the 25% climb out of Coniston) Walna Scar Road is a hideous start to any ride! I guess it all needs riding wherever you start and so in some ways is irrelevant, but I'd choose to give my legs a bit of a spin before h...

I have a KNCN mount, lightweight and it’s anodised :-bd Downside and I think most of these are similar, it’s oversized one side and standard on the other side, so means bulking out the light bracket for it to fit properly If someone did an oversized option on both sides ends, I’d swap it out Yeah, ...

Does anyone use one of those accessory bar things to lift lights up above any handlebar luggage and/or to give more mounting space? And if so do you use a generic AMZ/Fleabay one or a branded one, like Minoura or Topeak for eg. Any particular thoughts or recommendations? I'm wanting to lift an Expos...

Without looking for a generic alternative, I know Hope have a guide on the various uppers and lowers. If you get your callipers out, perhaps that can be used to at least know what you need size-wise if looking for more affordable alternatives? https://www.hopetech.com/products/controls/headsets/pick...
