Re: Todays walk

Pleasant afternoon in the Mournes today, 2100 feet of ascent though it was the descent that is hard work, dodging the showers

Re: Wild Camping Legalised?

My taking (England & Wales) is that on RoWs we have a right to pass and repass, and to rest but not to erect a shelter. So, bivvy good, tent bad. Yes I think the moving bit is the key here, it's what Stephen Neale's book on Wild Camping mentions, he cites the 1935 Vagrancy Act which specificall...

Re: Wild Camping Legalised?

Isn't it the Vagrancy Act that 'stops' wild camping? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czdyz848j0no Interesting, yes according to this blog https://www.blacks.co.uk/blog/dartmoor-wild-camping-banned "When did wild camping in England become illegal? Wild camping has been illegal in the UK for...

Prompted by the micro chair thread I searched around and today my Vango version arrived in the post, bit more weighty than I was expecting but seems sturdy enough!

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

It came up on iPlayer after I'd watched something else nature related. I think it was called "BBC Wild" or something like that. The next one was Gordan Buchannan talking about sea eagles on Mull. Another great series in Scotland is Roaming in the Wild, but sadly BBC iPlayer does not have ...

Re: The Oxford Canal

Thank you for the clarification. However when walking on tow paths I have come across stiles and swing gates designed to stop off road motorbikes, so smooth progress on a bicycle may be difficult in places I offer the above more as a possible explanation than anything definitive! at least, it's wha...

Re: The Oxford Canal

A quick look on OS maps and the Oxford Canal Path north of Oxford all seems to be Public Footpath, so a No-No for cycling unless I have got something wrong ? Looking at this https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/things-to-do/cycling/cycling-faqs Towpaths "are not public rights of way. Instead, the ma...

Re: Dales Divide anyone ?

I've just watched this vid https://youtu.be/pecs1qf1p4w?si=RT1Nv6njnRTT8_TE Looks like hard work to me, perhaps if I was in my early 20s instead of my late 50s! Great viewing though. Last time I rode those tunnels was in the summer a couple of years ago when I was broadly following the route of Further East that I had started in Mkt Harbrough.
