Hi I'm the OP it was a direct copy and paste so it looks like it's been taken down.

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Sorry to hear that story Catrike! Still in the States? How's that going? Improved? Everyone's journey is different. Mine's never been dramatic, been up to 17st 10 lb a few years ago, hit 50 and decided I wasn't going to be fat'n'50, did keto , got to 14st 2lb. From there I wafted back to 15st 10lb ...

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Well here's my story for anyone interested. Was really active, cycling , paragliding, walking etc. A few twists and turns and I gained some weight, I was 80kg until 2008 ish then started to gain weight, just incrementally, slowly slowly. then in 2013 moved to the US, with my wife's job, didn't want ...

Re: Cairngorm outer loop

Yeah, the Komoot route does a short off-road after Blair Atholl where you past an old bungalow, maybe into a hiking trail but just seems to go nowhere, gives nothing apart from wet feet and then brings you back onto the road again. Another one occurs before the Loch Insch area. Takes you off-road o...

Re: Cairngorm outer loop

Thanks everyone, yes the issue I have is I would like to enjoy it and not wish I hadn't bothered, I guess it's missing out the horrible bits, I have seen tips about not going a certain way but go this way, however , if you don't know the place at all its a bit of a mystery. Komoot has it's problems ...

Used once Restrap 14lt saddle bag with dry bag

Hi
I used this once on Tuesday for an overnight, so it's in brand new condition.
cost £120
Selling for £70, I will post if you pay the cost of postage.
Nothing wrong with it and it worked brilliantly but | wanted a tailfin so I bought that instead.

Re: Advice on Filtering water

I was in Dumfries and Galloway, I had to cut the trip short as I had a midge nightmare. Due to a whole set of hilarious circumstances, I left home late, left the car park late, had a Garmin nightmare, camped where I didn't really want to but it was going dark, hadn't pitched the tent before ( I know...

Garmin In Reach or other PLB

Any advice regarding carrying one of these devices?
I tend to lean towards having one, better to have one and never need it than to need it and not have one.
Any advice on which type, experience with them etc always appreciated

Straps to fasten oversize bottles

Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction to acquire the rubber straps for attaching oversize bottles etc, I want to take a Klean Kanteen bottle slung under the down tube and want some extra security to hold it in place.
Cheers in advance

Rear light with seat stay mount

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a good rear light that can be mounted on the seat stay?
I will be using a tail pack and I can attach one there but two is one and one is none, is my mantra.

Decent lock for bikepacking

Hi All, Can anyone recommend a good lightweight lock for use when bikepacking? locking outside a shop etc when popping in to buy stuff. Re: Advice Please

Ah ok. There's a little pay and display National Park car park in Alwinton. It says no overnight parking, but I usually take the view that's to deter campers, and what are they going to do if you're not there? It's a very reasonable £2/day so you could stick a couple of tickets in the windscreen an...

I'm a bit confused about the reference to Alwinton (there's just one and it's in Northumberland) along with talk of a trip across Arran. Re: Advice Please

Apologies if I'm coming across as a know all but aren't feather allergies very rare and it's the dust mites associated which with a new down bag in nylon is a low risk? In any case, to answer your question, I have a Mountain Hardware Lamina that's brilliant and I was previously a down bag advocate....
