December Bivvy a Month The Polishermanses let slip a nice little bivvy spot up to what we call the 'Top Res' Chew Reservoir on the top of Saddleworth Moor above Dovestone Reservoir. Up-Up-Uppity-Up to just shy of 500m. Nice bit of isolation, not a soul was met. No rain but a bit nippy. Hid behind th...
Inspired by the guy that ran every street in San Francisco, I did....RESIO. Ride Every Street In Oldham. From home each time it took me 45 rides. Took my Strava buddies a few rides to figure out what RESIO was. I certainly got to know my local area quite well...
November BaM: Codename...Operation Noddy Holder A weekend long anticipated as a group camp to a 'always seen but not visited' trig point above Stoodley Pike, up on the moors between Hebden Bridge and Rochdale. But then Storm Bert intervened, and it became a solo effort. Set off in the rain on the Su...
After the abject failure to have a bivvy on the BB when I really wanted one, I went out for one when I didn't. Super-local bivvy about 1km from home. Had family plan for Sat and Sun, and with the forecast 'Weather-Bomb'. On the edge of a local quarry looking out on the lights of Uppermill, S...
Great to meet so many cheery faces on the 300, including the Polishermanses before they came to sticky ends. I forded the Afon Hengwm ford before realising there was thr cut back to the footbridge. So had to re-ford back on to the route to have a clean conscience and legs for a while. Glad I wasn't ...
BAM September 2024 Just reminding ourselves what 'short-distance/nice-camp' is before next week's BB  With the Polisherman's, just off the Pennine Way on Blackstone Edge. Overlooking the M62 summit, Yorkshire or Manchester depending on which way you were looking. The trusty red 'thong' tarp ca...

BAM 7/12 its the end on the month After work on Friday, a few laps and a shower at the swimming pool then out less than 10k arriving after sunset. Just off one of our usual MTB routes, on top of the Standedge Canal/Railway Tunnel in Saddleworth. No need for TinyTarp, only the InvisiBag. Bit too gras...

May BAM. WRT with the Polishermanses https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53755882193_f1b83666db.jpg Not my tent actually, but the best pic. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53754773587_3f5dde47a0.jpg Don't ask me where we went https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53756007529_be4c04ee68.jpg A rando...
Giving me flashbacks these posts...I recently had avocado on sourbread very near JimmyG's ride, and have kipped on the beach at Tentsmuir near fatbikephil's splendid adventure. The small world of bikepacking
A 3-day weekend on Edinburgh's Capital Trail with the Polishermanses a couple of weeks ago. All four seasons of weather, but dry from the sky for camping. The Three Brethren Cains on the Southern Upland Way. Flippin freezin. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53681344155_741239f32e.jpg 102_0114 by ...
Bivvy in a quarry somewhere above Hebden Bridge. 113km Pennine ride from home with Mr and Mrs Polisherman. Back to the trusty 'Coffin' tarp to keep the rain off my head. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53593144251_c475b2cb0a.jpg 102_0050 The Polishermanses climbing out of a steep valley after th...
February BAM, 2/12 Invisibivvy Super micro-distance 10 mins down to the woods near the canal here in Saddleworth. It was too warm not to grab the opportunity. Had the tarp for years but not used much as too bulky. But when your ride is 1.5km  https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53508116660_2c9...
Late entry...inspired by my FOMO of neighbour and local legend Mrs Polisherman. Day at work Saturday, then 10k ride to a local elevated quarry containing the "Snow" Stanza Stone by Simon Armitage (Pule Hill, Marsden, West Yorkshire). No rain but I shivered like a whippet. Need more than 6 ...
Tesco Vegan sausage sandwiches in Warbies pre-slices burger buns. Proper (for a vegan) food that is easy to eat on the bike and slides down nicely. Also Biscoff spread (or the Aldi equivalent) in the same buns. Loves to be squashed in a bike pack. I had 6 of each that fueled me round this year's BB3...
