Re: Lakeland Loop

Looks good that Bob!

I rode that concrete track a few weeks ago when I was riding up to the lakes for Coledale Horseshoe race. There were plenty of 'no vehicle' signs and it felt a bit like I was trespassing, but I enjoyed its curiosity.

Bloody lovely that :X

Slightly biased, but I still think the Speedball is the best looking Stooge ever built, closely followed by the Speedbomb. They ride lovely too!!

Re: Reasonably priced carbon gravel wheels?

I was going to update this after riding my new wheels. I can't ride due to injury, but I have managed to get them on the bike. As per the quote above, they're DT350 hubs, 28 Sapim CX ray spokes and wide, carbon farsports rims. I communicated directly with the seller via his website and email, which ...

Do you really need to ask? Hunt, obviously. Whichever hubs they were or are using on the Trail Wide V2s. Did we decide they're possibly made by Novatec?

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Glad to hear you have mostly recovered Phil. My bars are set relatively high on most bikes, but even on my 'proper' road bike, I (did) find it comfortable to spend long periods down low in the drops. If I'm totally honest with myself though, I've probably just been doing too much recently, without e...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Thanks folks, I'm sure it'll be fine with a bit of patience and self care. Neither of which I'm very good at.

On the plus side, forced rest should be an opportunity to pursue some less strenuous hobbies. Thankfully, the TV went a few years ago so that's the lazy option taken care of

Good to see the above cheeryness :-bd Not quite so here... I've spent all day in hospital with back pain, following an issue yesterday that came on suddenly while riding, and stopped me dead until I was kindly rescued by Herself. MRI scan showed a severely herniated disk ,narrowed spinal canal and b...

Very cheery yesterday. Finally got round to checking the valve clearances on my Speed Triple for it's 24k service. All are well within spec so she's buttoned back together with new plugs, filters and oil. :-bd

Re: Reasonably priced carbon gravel wheels?

JRA won't build onto anything other than Bitex hubs, and my local well respected bike tech (Cycle Fast) hasn't replied to my request. I'd really like to be rolling faster than the light-bicycle lead time and they also don't have an option for microspline in the 350 hubs.. I found a builder via eBay ...

Re: Reasonably priced carbon gravel wheels?

Thanks for all the replies. I've messaged JRA about building something onto DT hubs, just waiting for a reply. Failing that, it looks like ordering the rims from Light Bicycle and having them built on DT hubs by the LBS is the next option, although I'd really like to be riding them sooner than this ...

Re: Reasonably priced carbon gravel wheels?

Thanks James. I did find the JRA wheels and it looks like they're building on the kind of rims in my price point, but I'm wary of unbranded/rebranded hubs, and the availability of spares down the line. I don't mind paying the extra for something like a DT350 hub and I'm tempted to just get some buil...

Reasonably priced carbon gravel wheels?

My Hunt 35's are going back under the 60 day 'ride and return' policy due to a couple of hub issues. Are there any reputable wheel builders, building wheels on similarly reasonably priced carbon rims, but with greater care and options for better hubs (DT, Hope etc.)? I've done a fair bit of web traw...
