Re: Tubeless repair kit - but for cars!

The Mrs's car recently picked up a screw in the front tyre. I took it out, plugged it with my bike tubeless repair kit and reinflated it. It's been fine for a couple of weeks now

My days! It's difficult to comprehend what you must've been going through these past years! Amazing that you're back on the bike and under the canvas :-bd

I'll look forward to reading of your future trips as the situation continues to improve

A hummingbird hawk-moth in the garden, followed later in the day by a fairly close encounter with a badger outside the shed/cabin. Both 'firsts' for me in those areas :-bd

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Nice one John! That's ace news. Thanks Pete! It was indeed Ace! And the back felt/feels OK  Some interesting weather overnight, with very heavy rain, thunder and lightning. I was glad to be camped in Langdale valley, and not out on the hills. Lovely 'gravel' route, although it probably would...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Cheery enough  It's over two months now since my back threw it's toys out of the pram, and I've barely turned a pedal since. However, it survived Download last weekend (which got much sillier than my previous post implied!), so surly it can survive Jennride?! Bike packed for a trip to Staveley...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Cheery enough. Currently at Download festival and the sun is shining :-bd My first 'proper' festival in about 15 years. So I'm 40, not 25. My back hurts constantly, the closest thing to narcotics is codine, I'm in a campervan instead of a leaky tent and I've brought a yoga mat and smoothies for morn...

If you decide to go down the route of converting to band-on, you'll also require one of these little covers (I think - double check and don't blame me :???: ) https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/gear-spares/shimano-slx-slm7000-base-cap-fixing-screw-right-y06m98070/ Along with the cover and clamp posted else...

A nice Gore Lupra jacket from Sports Pursuit, which worked out about £45 delivered with a code :-bd

Also, my first copy of Back Street Heroes, after Stuart shared a snippet the other week. I then proceeded to bid on a half finished chop project....

Re: What you done t' your bike today

The XT brakes aren't bad at all, they just squeal when it's been stood for a while. The contamination burns off after some use, then it does it again after a period of standing unused. I find it annoying since I rotate bikes a bit, and my other Stooge with BB7's just works consistently, so I thought...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Swapped out the XT hydros for some second hand BB7's. The XT shifter was Ispec ii, so I swapped some parts to make it band-on (thanks SJS cycles), then fitted a new run of cable whilst it was off. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54569165621_cc1a2d0ce0.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5456...

Having spent the morning swapping XT brakes on a rigid bike for some cheap, second hand BB7's (thanks Joe), I'm confident I'm not the target audience :-bd

More leaky Shimano brake issues.. Moving another bike to mechanical for the easy life.

Before I check out my basket on one of the German sites, anything here?

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Speedball looks mega!! I doubt it's a coincidence that I've been riding road and gravel bikes a lot this year, trying to go faster, using the drops and aero bars, and my back finally popped. My Speedball and Scrambler (SS) are both fitted with short stems and Jones bars, actually giving negative rea...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Sorry to see that Gecko! I Cleaned up my Stooge single speed as I'd kinda agreed to sell it (again) to a mate. I'd figured that the back issues wouldn't be helped by rigid SS MTB. It looks cool AF cleaned and stripped of all mudguards etc. so I took if for a ride. My back didn't snap and it's ace to...

Re: Todays ride

I rode a bike today  It's been almost 4 weeks since one of my spinal disks decided it didn't like being between the vertebrae, and would rather be in my spinal canal, causing havoc with the nerves. Amongst other things, it's been a serious wake up call for how far I can keep pushing myself bef...
