Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Aldi have a bunch of frame bags and cycling stuff.
Not sure of quality but they are very cheap.

Inbred upgrades
Hey. I'm after some advice/suggestions of cost effective upgrades. I have a large on one inbred, 29er rigid bike. It's nice to ride but it's seems quite heavy. It currently has on one smorgasbord and chunky monkey tyres - looking at swapping them for something lighter. Potentially these https://www....

WTD parts for an inbred 29er.
Getting there with bits for my inbred 29er I’m building up. Still looking for a few more bits. Grips – lock on, black. Seatpost – 27.2mm not a dropper Groupset – I need the whole lot. Ideally looking for 1x Sram set up. Don’t mind used but should be in decent working order. And that’s it, looking fo...

Re: Replacement guy lines.
Hmmm good to know.
In my brain 17kg seems like plenty.
Is there a generally accepted minimum for guy lines?

Replacement guy lines.
So up until now I've always used paracord for my guy lines as I mostly canoe camp so weight isn't much of an issue. I'm looking to cut down on some weight and bulk - I've replaced my giant tarp with a little one and I have some 0.75mm nanocord which I thought about using. The internet reckons it has...

Re: Tarp recommendations
I’m not against the alpkit one, in fact I like to bright colours rather than everything being dull green.
I was just wondering what alternatives there are before I end up looking like an alpkit model

Re: Tarp recommendations
I can confirm I am not Marcel Kittel, I am the British version - Mark Kittle.
Sorry to disappoint.
I’ll keep the 3x3 as I use it for Canoe expeds where the weight is less of an issue and the extra space is nice to have.
Are there any alternatives of the same sort of size and weight?

Tarp recommendations
Hi all.
At the moment I have a DD 3x3 tarp but it’s pretty massive and heavy.
Anyone got any recommendations of something smaller and lighter?
I’ve been looking at the Alpkit 3.5 but it’s quite a lot.
Is it good value or is there another that is better value?

Re: Portugal Divide
I went to Portugal in October and loved it.
Really clean, everyone was friendly, they’re all obsessed with recycling, food was great, it was nice and warm and not too busy.
Definitely recommend it.
We were down on the south coast near Faro

I ordered one earlier as an entry into bikepacking.
Looking forwards to trying it out when I get back from Switzerland!

Re: Bikepacking beginner
Cheers, some good things to think about there.
We’ve done camping with her and she’s done a few miles with the bike.
I think I’ll leave her behind for now and see how I get on by myself first.
Thanks for all the advice everyone - looking forward to getting out and putting it to good use.

Re: Bikepacking beginner
Another question for you all.
Has anyone got any experience of bikepacking with a dog?
We have an 18 month old collie and wondering whether it would work for her to come with me

Sounds good.
I’ll see how I get on.
I love expeds in canoes/walking so I imagine I’ll also be a fan of bike expeds.

Bikepacking beginner
So I’m currently working on planning my first trip. Looking at something starting from home or not too far away and just 1 night out. I’ve got the exped gear and experience, just not with a bike. So a few questions - a couple about routes? I live on the Ardnamurchan peninsula near a little place cal...
