Re: Sandstone way
If your looking for a stopoff point halfway then there's a bunkhouse in the middle of Harwood Forest just past rothbury https://independenthostels.co.uk/members/chartnersfarm/ Hopefully it will stay dry for the next few weeks to let the ground dry out a bit for you, its best rode after a dry spell g...

Re: Alston - North Pennines
you can ride next to the railway line from Alston and join up to this route at Slaggyford, nice remote area, track is a little vague at the highest point, some real nice trails though

Re: Crossfell bothy night
its getting well used Ray, i checked the visitor book and there's someone there daily. Mostly pennine way walkers. Quite an array of goodies left as well, i was happy to leave coffee and cheese to add to it.

Re: tubeless advice please
Another trick is to take the valve core out then pump up till the tyre pops several times, that way you get more air into the tyre quicker.
Make sure the tyre is sitting next to the bead around the valve also.

Re: C2c Hadrian’s wall
Take the back roads from carlisle to brampton, from here there's a lovely quiet road following the river Irthing to Gilsland. From here you can pick up route 68 through Wark Forest, there's a bothy here for an overnighter. Follow this until bellingham, where i'd pick up the reivers route back to Tyn...

We diverted to AE between sanquhar and moffat which turned out to be a good...
