Re: Vertigo - any other sufferers?
It is worth a try, the prescription version is supposed to be an industrial strength version, I have only had one incident since, it definitely made a difference, I carry a strip of the tablets in my bag all the time.

I suffer with it on and of, mostly since my surgery, my GP prescribed some Prochlorperazine 5mg tablets to help control it, basically a sea sickness tablet.

Re: Solstice Campout
Thanks all, I am having issues posting images to Blogger, I am having to use Google to store them for the moment, I used to be able to directly link via Flickr but that appears to be broken now, hoping to find a better system later.

Solstice Campout
Hey all, I have been lurking here for a long time now, I was starting to get imposter syndrome and I was very envious of all the trips and adventures you have all been having, I will say thank you to all who have posted, your trips have kept me going through some very dark times and I am forever in ...

Something to be said for the humble ATB, rigid ideally but with space for big rubber, loads of fixing points for every occasion, aluminium or steel, the new Hudski Dualist looks quite tempting if I didn't already have my Bridgeclub/Wednesday.

Re: Advice on early retirement planning
For medical reasons I am partially retired, I now only work three days a week, not enough to tax but enough for NI contributions, we are taking advantage of the married couples allowance to help a little.

Re: An extra $82 to post to a bikepacking forum!?
I enjoy reading the publication, some of the stories I skip through, but I enjoy the wait and actually having a publication in my hands rather than a screen. Pay the extra, nope, I would rather spend the money on trips away.

Re: Sonder wheelsets anyone have experience?
I had Sonder wheels on a Santiago a few years ago, they were not good, most of the spoke both front and rear started to pull through the rims, I ended up getting some wheels built at SJS cycles

Re: 2025 - A year to look forward to? What are your plans?
For the first time in 2-3 years I am actually starting to feel better and looking forward to the new year, I am hoping for an all clear on my next MRI in six months, remaining brain tumour and seizure free is my main goal. My physio is going well and I am looking to get back on the bike for regular ...

Re: 2024 reflection
It has been a tough few years, 2024 was no exception, my cycling has been minimal, once a month as I deal with so many on going issues as I try and reassemble my health, but I think I shall bivvy once again next summer to start with. 1. Fave outing - Last weekend, popped down to Plymouth to see my f...

Re: Recommend me new rims
I have easily run 3.0 tyres on both the 29 and 27.5" versions, another option is the Hope Fortus 35, they are a 35mm internal and 40mm external width rim.

Shed Clearout
Hey all, I am running out of space in my shed after breaking down a project so I need to clear some stuff out. TRP Spyre brakes F+R set with 160mm rotors and IS to post mounts £90 the set - only used twice Shimano ST-R3000 2x9 road STI levers, as new taken off a bike £100 Shimano RD-R3000 GS rear me...

Re: 27.5 Plus tyre recommendations
The Teravail Oxbow (used to be the Cornado) is a good option, fairly grippy and fast rolling, I have the 29x2.8, the 27.5 is a 27.5x3.0 version.

Looks a fun route, which bird hide did you over night in? There is a great one over at Steart Marsh that is nice for an overnighter if you push out past Bridgwater. A couple of great locations to check out for quarry watching, Dartmoor is littered with both operational and historic quarries, I have bivvied in a couple of them when I lived down that way, mostly outside Princeton, also worth a trip is Bodmin moor, some nice places to see there too, starting aroun...

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!
:-bd My weight varies wildly doing weight training as I suffer with a fair bit of inflammation, but it should be still going down overall though, as I've plenty of fat to lose. The good thing is I must be losing it/recompositioning as clothes fit better, weights are going up, and my wife has commen...
