Re: Norfolk Coastal Overnighter
This looks like a lovely trip. Would it be possible to send me the route, it's not too far from me and would make a good start to getting ready for a summer trip tackling the Trans Cambrian way

Re: Foraging
Aside from the usual fruit foraging, berries, apples, pears, cherries and plums, I’m always on the lookout for other things. On local rides I’ll often gravitate towards areas that have mushrooms, we get quite a lot of shaggy ink caps nearby, delicious but need to be cooked pretty quickly or they’ll ...

Re: Rotor recommendations
It's all much of a muchness to be honest - disk thickness won't matter in terms of set up, just how long they last. I suspect there are differences in stainless steel quality but I generally find solid disks warp long before they wear out. If you are feeling flush, Hope disks on the alloy carriers ...

Re: Rotor recommendations
Worth checking what rotor thickness your trp's need, as they vary between some models. Some TRP's are the more common 1.8mm so can use shimano and many others. Some TRP's use 2.3mm. You might not notice, but there might be differences in feel and what happens when pads/rotor wears...TRP rotors them...

Rotor recommendations
Hi, I’ve got TRP spare brakes on my vagabond and was after 160mm rotors recommendations. Any thoughts or some I should be checking out? Cheers, Rob.

Re: Bike maintenance book recommendations
You can find guides to most things on You Tube. Almost always exactly your exact kit, eg how to bleed your brake rather than generic advice about how to get air out a system and a discussion on mineral via dot. Eg I can bleed brakes but my sram drop bars I still needed a guide. Dont think I would b...

Hello, I’ve only just seen this, sorry I didn’t reply sooner. Unfortunately that weekend I got struck down by an absolutely horrendous virus. My wife took my lad and stayed in a very posh hotel instead. I intend to go this year instead. The route looks just my kind of trip, cheers!

The Exped website is back up, the Ultra 5r mummy is reduced quite a bit. Be warned the medium is narrow, fine for me as I’m a bit of a runt. Had to be careful with my spelling there. https://www.expeduk.com/products/ultra- ... 1520672058

Re: The post man's been ...
As mentioned in the bargains thread, the postie dropped off an exped ultra 5r mummy, serious upgrade from my Alpkit cloud base. BAM is now possible, especially coupled with the quilt I got from gramxpert.eu. Anyone got any recommendations for electric air inflators?

Their website is currently down, but Exped uk have a sale on sleep mats, snagged an Ultra 5r mummy for under £130 with free p and p. The dream of BAM is edging closer to reality.

Manchester way?
Hello all, due to the upcoming train strikes I will be finding myself at a loose end. I need to drive my eldest and a mate up to Manchester to go to a gig, leaving me with an opportunity for a cheeky short overnighter. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shortish pootle overnighter in the loc...

Random encounters, they're life affirming
I recently came back from a wonderful two nighter in Brecon with a mate, big thanks to Verena for some insider knowledge. Whilst the riding and splendour of Wales were magnificent, one thing will stay cherished in my memories forever more. On our first night we'd reached a peak and had set up for th...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Cheers, food for thought. I’m riding a Genesis Vagabond, 2.3 up front and 2.1 at the rear. I’m only a little fella, so 10 stone, I’ve not weighed all my kit, but will do at some point. I went out for a spin today with both tyres in the 20’s, felt squishy but good. More experimentation needed, might ...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
. A hugely personal and subjective question, but what sort of psi do people use? I know folk use tubeless to go as low as possible, but I go for as high as I can without affecting comfort/grip. So much depends on weight, rim/tyre combo and terrain. Start hard and lower pressure gradually until you ...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
First time setting up tubeless. There was quite a bit of effing and jeffing, but the blighters are seated and on. Curious to see if they still hold any air for my Sunday morning ride tomorrow. A hugely personal and subjective question, but what sort of psi do people use? Much of my current riding is...
