Re: Anybody been ill after bikepacking
Never been ill from it, but always have the dirty water bottle problem. Always unscrew the cap off and drink that way, but stuff somehow usually ends up on the inside anyway. Just maybe luck i havent been ill then it seems. Perhaps ill switch to the hydration pack this year..

Re: tent users, what do you use?
Luxe Hex peak. Little bit bulky with the inner, but i like having a big clean dry space. Enough room to sit up in, big enough for stove burning and all my gear in the porch.

Re: Pinnacle ramin 1 hanger question
Thanks jameso. Ive had a few emails with Evans, but from 3 different people and tbh i wasnt sure if i had explained it well enough or if it was getting lost in translation between different people. The last email i received though on Tuesday said it had been passed on to the pinnacle team and perhap...

Re: Pinnacle ramin 1 hanger question
Thanks for that, both the new ones have the smaller writing which dont fit, so that possibly rules that out as the solution then. Not sure what options im left with now. Probably just either go into store and get a hanger that looks the same as the original and hope it fits, or take the bike in and ...

Pinnacle ramin 1 hanger question
I know theres a few with Ramins on here, so im hoping someone could do me a favour. I bent my derailleur hanger, and purchased a new one. Unfortunately the new one does not fit on to the frame. On closer inspection the mounting screw holes are slightly further apart and the curve of the hanger also ...

Re: Possibly daft question
Alright, so thanks for the replys. Had a closer look earlier now that i knew what i was looking for. The cage had very slight twist on it, but nothing. It was actually the hanger that was bent. Didnt notice it untill i started measuring. Very slight, only 2mm or so bent in towards the spokes. Had to...

Re: Possibly daft question
Alright thanks, will have a proper look tommorrow. Been giving bother for a few weeks now after i had a mishap, and i thought there was something bent, but couldnt see anything. Was only tonight when fiddling that i noticed the upper pulley was at an angle across the first and 2nd gears when in each...

Possibly daft question
Like topic, this may be a daft question. I tried google but sometimes it has too much info and nothing to do with what you want. I suspect my rear derailleur cage is bent/twisted. I have 1x9 gears. Im getting bother with my 1st and 2nd gear, and when looking at it, the pulley wheels seem to be runni...

Re: Pot noodle alternatives :)
Ive gave up on supernoodles, hardly any flavour from them now.
I do like "Koka" noodles from tesco, plenty of flavour and cheap too. I forget but i think only 30p or so.

Re: Newbie kit advice
Personally if i was doing a week trip it would be a tent definetly. I went from tents to hammocking to bivi's in attempts to save weight/packsize and just try it out. Dont mind bivying for one night, hammocking too dependant on trees, but overall ive came back around to tents.Generally heavier/bulki...

Re: Packing - what do you put where?
though i may stuff the inner around the tent and sleeping bag to fill the space up a bit, as at the weekend the straps kept trying to squeeze my tent out of position due to the space not being filled enough. Packing individual dry bags within a bigger drybag makes this much worse. If you can stuff ...

Re: Packing - what do you put where?
Noticed wiggle had some cheap Deuter triangle bags which may be worth a try. I have one of these, it's surprisingly small/hard to fit anything in due to the shape. You also lose at least one, maybe both, bottle cages. I went for the Vaude 'cruiser' frame bag in the end - it holds more (which is wei...

Re: Packing - what do you put where?
Im still trying to work out a structure to my packing also, as i too use a loaded rucksack atm. No matter how much stuff i put on the bike, the rucksack seems to stay the same size. :???: But generally i have Bar harness with dry bag attached, with sleeping bag and tent outer in their own drybags wi...

Re: 29 wheels and frame sizing
Bike came today. Would agree the stock grips feel pretty uncomfy from initial feel. Pretty good service since i only bought it on Tuesday night, and im gonna assume that the gears not being set up the best were due to a rush to get it sent out. Soon as i turned the pedals to wheel it out the box the...

Re: 29 wheels and frame sizing
I can measure this evening the seatpost I'm running and see what room my Apidura bag has if that helps you decide - a Small would give you more seatpost and so more room. Thanks for that, but i ended up buying a medium last night. Was in no hurry as i thought my plans for this holiday weekend were ...

Re: 29 wheels and frame sizing
True, with my current 18" i dont have much seatpost showing for attaching too. Frame size not an issue then for the seatpack, more leg length and seat height. At my size i think either the medium or small would do me, but if i go medium it gives me a bit extra space for framebag/water bottles i...

Re: 29 wheels and frame sizing
Ive had a look at my current and its an 18" frame. Slightly too big for me but has never been an issue really, so i may lean towards a medium Ramin as its a 17" going by their chart.
Though ive just googled evans shops and realised theres one with 8 miles of me. May be worth a look first

29 wheels and frame sizing
About to buy a new bike, fairly settled on a Ramin 1 due to the price, but ive only had 26" wheels before. Im 5'6 at most, and going by the evans cycle chart, the small frame size is recommended for me. Will i be able to use a seat pack with 29 wheels and a small frame? And any other bike recom...

Re: OT inflatable kayaks
Song of the paddle website.
Not kayaking specific but plenty of inflatable users over there.
I think Gumotex, Zpro and sevylor are the more popular brands of inflatables, unless your looking at the likes of packrafts etc.

Got the MSR Trailshot today to replace my Sawyer Mini filter.
Didnt know i needed a new filter untill i saw the review at the review section here. Instant buy. Looks like it solves all the annoyances i had with the sawyer.

Re: Is it safe along the canal... ?
When I first got my seatpack, I had a look at fitting it and opted to keep using my rucksack instead, so I suppose I shouldn't be worried about someone removing it in a hurry
More thinking about me drybag on handlebars that only has 2 clips, but I suppose most won't even consider what's in it

Re: Is it safe along the canal... ?
I usually try and drag my bike into my tent with me, or wrap guy lines etc around it in hopes of foiling a thief. So far all ive managed is to annoy myself in the morning when i have a tangle of lines and knots to undo  One thing i have been wondering since recently moving onto a handlebar harn...

Re: Anyone experience of these packraft?
Bought an Alpacka raft a few years ago but tbh ive hardly used it. Figured i would use it for walking and trips across lochs etc, but its a bit slow on flat water to be enjoyable for me, and if theres a wind :| Did try a trip down the local river with the bike attached for getting back home. Was my ...

Re: Cairngorms route advice
Yeah i had seen that when reading up on the route, but it was a last minute route change in the morning before setting off. I read some people saying its all rideable and a few saying its not, so i figured it'd be a bit of both. Definetly more on the pushing side, although probably better when the b...

Re: Cairngorms route advice
Ending up not doing the moray way, i needed a shorter route for 1 night only, so headed up to Bridge of Orchy instead. Started at Victoria bridge, followed WHW till Kingshouse, then down glen etive untill turn into glen kinglass and back to Victoria bridge. Good times untill hitting the east side of...
