Re: My first long(ish) Audax
I was on the 3 coasts this weekend. I shared the inside out guts experience - albeit immodium blocked me up sufficiently to get through it without needing to use leaves. Carradice - it was all there used to be. Like steel bikes, Brooks, Open Pros and Schwalbe Marathons. My audax bike has alpkit cust...

Obviously still recovering from big RTA. Done 200km in spring - awful DKTTR on / off road audax - first back by an hour. Real confidence boost (albeit "winning an audax" is about the wankiest boast possible) Bryan Chapman - 28h38m - felt great 200km at the weekend - first back, felt strong...

Really interested in this (admittedly it'll be later in the summer before I'd get a chance) and would love a look.

Re: Wide 29" tyre - what do you reckon?
I've got a pair of Dirt Wizards with 2 rides on them. They are horrible unless you are riding in deep mud. Anything remotely firm beneath them and the wobble and squirm. I hate them. On the other hand, I love my chupacabras, and so long as you can cope with them being terrifying when the mud gets de...

I have also signed up for the BCM and ELE. :-bd Got entries in for BCM and LEL too, along with my sis and her BF. Also got entries in for 3 coasts and Pendle, with a view to the 4x600 hyper non-award. Annoyingly, looks like insurance from my RTA isn't going to appear any time soon. Any advice on ge...

Re: "Audax chat" thread
Did my first Audax this weekend, Hailsham Hills and Mills - a short one but testing for me with plenty of climbing in a short distance. It was a lovely atmosphere , everyone I spoke to was encouraging and helpful, especially working out the initially impenetrable codes on the route sheet and inform...

Not bad for a year that included a hernia op, a dreadful reaction to new prescription, and getting my mouth smashed up by a taxi.

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
I did it on the turbo last year, which doesn't count, but meant I could eat like an utter glutton. I was trying to get a decent buffer of fitness in before a hernia op, in the interests of "pre-habilitation". The recovery from the op was still miserable.

Yeah, I didn't post up the conversion to w/kg - that's for me at 70kg. Puts me at 4.16w/kg, high cat 3, low cat 2 on the Hunter / Coggan chart. https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-7f5847185382d2de251a8d558f471727-c?convert_to_webp=true I'm not an exercise person, but I suspect it's down to how Zwi...

http://thumbsnap.com/s/kthJmASR.jpg I don't really do diets. I find I'm fuller on 40c 40p 20f with regular 20g of protein through the day, but I was just fine on 65c 20f 15c. My thing is self monitoring. I have a connected scale (garmin index), an "activities of daily living" monitor (a v...

Had a Tacx Neo plus a gaming PC and a big screen for a few months (had a RTA, missus thought it'd cheer me up). Along with blood lactate testing and getting my zones right, then signing up with Training Peaks, then Today's Plan, I feel like doing more than just hurting myself. Maybe I'm getting stro...

Need to get my head back together post RTA, but assuming I do... A Mere 200km, BCM 600km, The 3 Coasts 600km, Pendle 600km, London - Edinburgh - London 1400km, and Blackpool - Glasgow - Blackpool 600km audaxes, plus Bearbones. This year has been rubbish. First, a hernia op, then overtraining + meds ...

This is something I keep thinking about, mainly because the Hells 500 kit looks cool. Looking forward to hearing how you coped mentally. I'd probably do Norwood Edge, as I could leave a car with stuff in at Stainburn CP and wouldn't need support.

I do ride a bike outdoors lots and lots. However at the location the trainer will be based, riding a bike is very dangerous due to the high road traffic. If anybody has opinions on tacx smart trainers please can you let me know. The DC Rainmaker review in his overview convinced me that the Vortex w...

I use Zwift - did the Crikey, how much 500 on it, and have done 200km in a session on it. Its actually good fun, especially with mates. Some of the "club runs" are quite a laugh. I've not raced on it, but it appears to bring out the worst sorts. I haven't used it for months. Syncs with Str...

ve got a pair of barely used dirt wizards I'd sell. Yes, they are amazing in mud, but you squirm around on anything hard packed as much as you slip on chupas in mud. I think I have maybe done two or three rides on them. Franky, I'd rather ride my road bike on the turbo than ride dirt wizards. I can ...
