I'm coming, too. But like last year, I'll start after work, at around 4pm or so. I may see a few of you on Sunday afternoon.

Re: On the subject of gloves, what thin waterproof gloves?
Just bought the Showa Temres 281 but haven't tested. Medium size is quite tight and ordered a Large size to wear over thin gloves for colder days. The 282 ones come with an inner fleece but I rather use 2 layers.

Re: Lake District hike suggestions please
Not a high summit but a beautiful spot - what about Haystacks? There are various tarns near the top and the undulating ground means you should be able to get a sheltered spot. Easy route is along lakeside and up Scarth Gap and onto Haystacks. A more challenging route would be the Red Pike/High Crag...

Yep, a bit midgy last Sunday evening, when the wind decided to stop and became food for them.

Been using the Soto Windmaster for a year and it's brilliant. No experience with other similar ones, though.

Liam never stops amazing me despite what he did last BB event. Congratulations!! 3 and a half days, I guess a longer course than Neil Beltchenko's record and worse weather. The only one who has won 2 times and on completely different bikes. Incredible! And also well done to James and Andrew, very q...

I bumped into Mike Sheldrake in Lochinver. Yes, derailleur gone and called bike shop jn Scourie for a fix tomorrow. Now he's in Ullapool, so something changed.
Liam for the win now. Simply amazing!

Re: HT550 2021
If Liam and Josh keep this pace they may not hit shops open in Ullapool tomorrow morning, last resupply place for them would be Lochinver before entering Fisherfield. In 2019 I was in Ullapoolbefore Tesco openen but there's a shop that opened 1 hour earlier, where I stopped. Neil and Chris in 2017 g...

Re: HT550 2021
What's happening to Huw Oliver? His preparation has been extraordinary but he's quite at the back. Or is he waiting for where he excels, on techy terrain?
Amazing Liam on a rigid, but see how fast he is over Fisherfield.
Haven't had much time for social media. Coming from Cape Wrath now...

Re: HT550 2021
Just seen that Liam Glen is running singlespeed. Wonder what ratio he's using?? Judging by his performance on the BB200 (14 hr 32 min) that makes him favourite then? I think that's a given bearing in mind how fast he went round in 2019 before his bladder started giving him gyp; and the fact...

Re: Slovakia anyone ??
Hi, I was around 2012 or 2013, riding mostly the area north of Bratislava, the Male Karpaty. All wooded and rolling hills. It was mid summer and found it dry and very hot, glad it was mostly riding on the shade. At that time I was only doing day rides. I even raced the Stupavsky mtb marathon. In 201...

Re: SS road bikes for touring
My advice is to start on whatever the ratio the bike comes and ride it on different types of terrain, with and without bags, road, gravel, or mtb territory only. Be prepared to swap sprockets to compare. I've been riding a road ss bike with tyre clearance up to 40mm over all types of terrain. Thinki...

Thanks Stu. Enjoyed watching that with my mate.
Since I moved to Cumbria around April I started running on the hills as well.
Nice pics, Greg. I'd like to give fell racing a go.

Haha! Ok, but road ss on ondulating terrain is miles different from hilly off road where weight matters more.
Such long commute!!

Re: Whats a comfy singleSpeed gearing for hilly roadie stuff?
Hi, I think it depends a lot on the watts you have in your legs. I weight under 60kg with no much strength in my legs and have to go easy with the ratios. I wouldn't say it's a hilly route but being a commute ride is better to play safe. I crossed Europe on 38x18 including some mountain passes in th...

Yep, we are 3 units in one big warehouse in North London. N4 and N8 have been struggling for a couple of weeks at least. Never seen anything similar in my 11 years at this job. And it's going to take ages to catch up. N15 (mine) have been delivering 100%100. I don't know in other places. The main re...

Re: G-one tires
I also have some G-ones in different sizes, 38, 35, 30...and like them a lot. Not very durable on the models with best compound though, especially on the rear. Also have the 650bx2.35 I bought for Battle on the beach. Fast as well but not long lasting.
