Presumably that comes with everything I need?
And any reason not to?

Re: “Utility” pannier racks and bags
For context, the route involves a section of coastal path single track, probably 30min each way.
I think the shopping load will be limited to some degree.
The shop itself is also in an area where a good D Lock and cable are ‘essential’ addition to the weight before I’ve started.

“Utility” pannier racks and bags
I’m basically trying to breathe life into the commuter (as that’s no longer a thing) by using that bike for small shopping trips. Are pannier racks and bags much of a muchness, or are some easier to remove and refit (as they’ll be shopping bags) Is it worth a front and rear set up to balance the wei...

LOL no
It simply wouldn’t get used enough or looked after well enough.
If I want to go properly light, it’s a Borah Bivvy and maybe the Cuben Tarp if I feel like a bit of luxury.

I will scan below exactly what this mathematician PhD type chap I’d prefer a podiatrist tbh. Anyway, I went minimalist (I can’t bare to say bare**** then shoes, sorry) a few years back but have actually found I’m happier with a 4mm drop for running. I learnt the hard way that narrow “race fit” shoe...

On “another” forum I was bemused by yet another Android/Apple squabble.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 9:27 am I really dislike using Harvey maps. I do wonder whether in part it's down to my colour-blindness and the more subtle colouring they seem to use?
But, in reflection, I think I might be exactly the same but with maps.

Re: Laminating printed maps
For long/multi-day trips, after tryy various options, I generally print the maps double sided on AT and keep them in an appropriately sized zip lock plastic bag. Carrying a second bag, or document wallet allows you to just have a couple out at a time. Easy to handle, fold etc. There's something nic...

Re: Laminating printed maps
You can waterproof a normal OS map with a waterproofing spray like Grangers or similar. I did it years ago and worked a treat. Cant remember what I used though. Google it and theres plenty of info on doing it online. I’m trying to avoid that, I’ve a cupboard full of laminated OS maps. I technically...

Re: Laminating printed maps
I have tried themHave you tried Harvey’s maps?
A) Limited U.K. coverage
B) I’m very good at visualising OS maps, not so much Harvey Maps
C) Possibly as a result of B) I do not like the design

Re: Laminating printed maps
Ah…. I no longer have a printer! There’s also no one local with a decent printer (I mean the sort of place that has a printer you pay a small fee to use). Has anyone had any luck buying printed one of sheets from an online printer? It would likely be laminated rather than tough paper which is a sham...

Don’t know if it’s waterproof, don’t really know how breathable it is. I do know it’ll just cost you postage however.

Thanks for this point. I am sometimes surprised at the victim-blaming/self-flagellating narratives about this that come up in outdoor communities I’m not sure anyone is doing this. Acknowledging anti social behaviour exists is very different to doffing your cap to landowners. I’m not sure dismissin...

Oh I perceive it all right. When I look at most countryside in the U.K. what I see is an industrialised landscape.
Almost none of it is natural. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of one truly wild place in Britain.

I’m surprisingly torn on this.
On the one hand losing rights is deeply troubling.
On the other hand the sheer numbers of entitled roasters I’ve witnessed trashing wherever they happen to be makes me understand why such moves have and will happen.

Re: Dynamo Light of choice - fork mounted gravel use mid range
Right then, that’s everything sorted bar possibly the rear light. I’m half tempted by a Son Rear light, is the much to be said for upgrading from a B&M Secula? What did you go for in the end? I’ve stuck with what I already have rear light wise which is the Secula, front is a SON Edelux.
