Tyvek - any insulation value?

I've been pondering my sleeping mat system and was wondering if a Tyvex groundsheet would offer any additional insulation value - that is, some sort of R value in addition to the R value of my sleeping mat. Anyone know?

Looking for Material

Wonder if anyone can help, I'm looking for material to make a minimalist crampon bag ahead of winter. Something durable enough to protect my pack from the points, but easy enough to use with a household sewing machine? Any idea what and if possible where I could get this from?
Many thanks 👍

WTD: Camp chair

I seem to be moving back to doing more backpacking these days, so fancy treating my tired old legs at the end of the day. Does anyone have one of those collapsible Helinox camp chairs they'd be keen to sell?

Re: Taking bikes to the USA and problems with the TSA

Dunno if this is helpful, but I lived in the US for a while and moved back to the UK in 2018. At the time I brought my bike back with me (purchased over there) as it was surprisingly cheap to do so. I acquired a large cardboard bike box from REI, part disassembled the bike and filled up the box with...

New Trail Shoes

Slightly off topic so apologies, but hopefully someone can help me! I'm after a new pair of trail shoes for hiking and general outdoors stuff. I don't have many specific requirements, just shoes that will last more than a year of regular use (does such a thing exist these days?), have decent grip in...

Good idea, I'll have a dig around the garage to see what I have.

I'd take that Barzo off your hands if it's black/grey? If it's new then happy to pay something for it.

Not sure I need a huge one Ton - is it like the Hunka XL? Also sounds like it might be quite heavy?

WTD Bivvy Bag

Decided to try a bivvy bag again, probably along with a tarp once midgie season is over. I don't suppose anyone has one in good condition that's now surplus to requirements? Thanks

During my hike the local SAR helicopter appeared in the next glen, circling around and obviously looking for someone, so I started to think about being able to accurately give my position if required...
