Re: No longer a mountain biker.
What about calling yourself an all terrain biker as the use of ATB seems to have fallen out of favour.

Re: Restoring well-used down sleeping bags
take it to a laundrette and wash it yourself with soap flakes or use a specialist down wash product if you feel the need, then tumble dry with a few tennis balls, all you need is their big volume machines to get the job done.

I think that it will stay a sub genre of mountainbiking, most people are hapy to ride their bikes and go home for a shower. There will always be people looking to gram shave and get lighter products in the same way some people want bomber equipment which will last to the sacrifice of weight. Maybe T...

Zippy, a wrap with duct tape should negate any issues with splinters of the fibre glass poles

Re: Buzzing Arms
I had the specialized roubaix tape with gells on my old Kaff, very comfy but they do come up quite big, I prefer skinny grips on mtb and tape on road bike

Re: Buzzing Arms
What's your set like, you may be sitting too far forward or too low, with more pressure on your hands than on your seat. Have you tried a stem with more rise but if you have been riding the road bike for a few years with no issues then ignore this post

Re: Wildcat Tiger on a full suspension
If you are worried about a bit of rub ask Beth to sew a piece of the rubbery stuff, seatpost strap, to the arse of the harness. This should be quite abrasion resistant, maybe.

I haven't started to read it yet, but is it any different from buying all the food and paying for any mechanicals as you ride along.

Re: joined the club..!
I would reccomend having a go at making a framebag, I am in the process of making a handlebar harness. I can reccomend Extremtextil for fabric and zips, VX21 seconds and Cordura 500 seconds. Making the patterne is handy the sewing a bit more fiddly, just make sure your velcro is the right way on. I ...

Re: First Post, Second Sewing Project, MYOG Frame Pack
I have used cordura 500 and VX21 from Extremtextil, both fabrics are seconds and cheap. Have a look at my fb page and you can see how mine turned out. Mine is basic and i didnt bind the seams or have a liner fabric. The MTBR, backpackinglight and bikepacking forums all have excellent how tos. It is ...

Mourne Ride Thing
Since I can't make it over to Wales for the WRT I will be riding and camping in the Kingdom of Mourne, Northern Ireland over the same week end in solidarity with my fellow bikepackers.
Route to be confirmed, and tee shirt to be designed.
