Re: La Conquista
Pistonbroke - Thanks for your thoughts. I was toying with the idea of taking the Portsmouth - Bilbao ferry (no car, just the bike) and taking a couple of days to cycle to the start. Very nebulous idea to do La Conquista over 4 or 5 days (last trip I did was Tuscany Trail in 2016 (4 days) and I'm now...

Anybody do this (La Conquista ... 600km Burgos to Valencia) last year, or maybe signing up for 2025?

Ridgeway - w/c 30/8
I've not ridden much since Tuscany Trail 2016 (didn't turn a pedal for over 4 years) but have now dusted the cobwebs off the Pivot and the bivvi. Was looking to do the west half of Ridgeway from Streatley to Uffington over 2 x half days next week. Any offers of company or suggestions of good spots t...

Re: Tuscany Trail 2017
Hi Gairy - I'm entered (again) although currently medically unable to complete.
Hoping to be patched up in time to do some riding beforehand.
Actually, hoping to be back in the saddle before I need to pay for flights !!!

Gents - almost certainly won't be able to make these dates but just wanted to 'register' as a SE resident (Maidenhead-ish).
Hope to catch up with you all sometime.

Re: Yorkshire Dales 200
Now unable to make this as work is getting in the way of getting on a train early enough Friday to make it. Anyone interested in taking my place just let me know and I'll forward details and let any others know that they were too late. Riders Centre is laying on breakfasts for (my) entry fee so woul...

Re: Yorkshire Dales 200
Thanks for the responses. I'll make a vague plan for the route either way round (expecting to do it 'backwards' / ACW now that I've looked at it) and will take care over water carrying capacity. I'm stuck with using the train so will go straight into Skipton on Friday evening (thanks for the offer o...

Yorkshire Dales 200
I'm entered and was wondering it anyone is else is doing it or looked at / know the 2016 route. Seems as though the pit stop options are Austwick at 35 miles and then Hawes at 80 miles. It took me almost 2 days to do 80 miles in Tuscany; anyone able to compare (assuming we have decent weather for ne...

Re: SP dynamo hub grumbly bearings - how long have they got
Just as a follow up .... my dynamo hub replaced and built into the old wheel at no charge by either SJS or hub supplier. I was expecting the rebuild to be charged so very pleased with how it was handled. Lets just hope the bearings last this time round.

Re: SP dynamo hub grumbly bearings - how long have they got
Day 2 of Tuscany Trail I noticed my SP rumbling. Now had a look and it has 2mm movement at rim - so not to be trusted beyond the end of the road. It's 2 years old but its hardly seen any real action other than last week so I'm less than impressed. This was PD8-X. Wheel bought from St James Street (...

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?
I'm flying with BA as they count the bike as check in luggage as long as it doesnt go over the weight limit. ( or so i'm told) I flew BA to Pisa for Tuscany Trail and there was no charge for the bike bag - weight limit for checked luggage was 23kg so not as much as many (weight limit for hand lugga...

Re: Tuscany Trail 2016
I think the accommodation provided by organisers was for first 100 entrants only. I'd appreciate being included in any thinking on Bear Bones tour booking for the Wednesday night. Did someone think that they'd found decently priced source for Garmin suitable maps for this - I'm sure that I read that...

Re: Tuscany Trail Kit discussion
Currently thinking - Moonlight bivvi bag (netted version); no sleeping bag; siltarp 1; nemo mat. BUT it's not going to be well ventilated, so hot nights would be unpleasant. I have an Airwaves tent - c. 900gm - and this has bug proof inner that pitches first so I could leave the 'fly sheet' off for ...

Someone said that when choosing gear to take that bug protection should be paramount but do we need to be thinking about being particularly inconspicuous too?

Re: Any London based folk keen for a weekend winter campout?
I'm near Slough and there are off-road /quiet road routes out to Chilterns & Ridgeway or south through Swinley, Farnborough, Alice Holt Woods down to Bordon - just need a few more miles and that gets you into Queen Elizabeth Country Park and onto the SDW. These (for me) are >6 hour rides out and...

Bryan - Thanks for organising - a repeat of 2014 would be good for me (esp. the weather).
Most of those there would have missed the sun set over Loch Lomond .....
Glad I waited around for the moment

Re: Another Revo question..
I'm just waiting for SP dynamo 27.5" 15mm bolt through wheel to arrive and wondering if, to enable me to use Revo on my 26" for short outings, it'll run of my old 6v NiCad. Presume there's 6V AC from the dynamo and some rectifying circuitry in the Revo but on that basis would have thought ...
