Re: Sealant question.
Depends on the sealant, Continentals RevoSealant is good for 6 months in my experience, Stans is more like 2-3months.
Both seem to last pretty well in the bottle after opening.
I'm trying the Joe's sealant at the moment in my wtb nanos, I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Surely 11 days too early - 50t cassette.
As his tweet suggests, battery life is measured in months. Not really shimano's fault if you don't charge it every 3 months. I' m inclined to agree that ultegra mechanical is very nearly as good as di2, but there are some features like the self trimming front mech and the perfect shift every time th...

Re: Dirty Reiver: 200k UK Gravel event
Me, bringing a couple of other Southerners. We got real poncy and booked a static caravan. Figured a shower before the pub might be a wise idea.
Not bothered about the climbing, but the distance is mildly worrying. Its kind of crept up on me and I'm trying to do some last minute practice.

Undiluted washing up liquid isn't a good thing on rubber, well diluted should be fine though.
Are you aware that topeak now has its own flash charger? No doubt it'll be available for 40% off online before long. I've got one on order with the distributor.

Re: Chainrings Ultegra 6700? or Chainset BB86?
BB86 is just the press fit standard iirc. You will need a to space out for a MTB chain set, but it'll work quite happily. As far as I'm aware the smallest compact chainring you can get is a 33t but they're stupid expensive. Cheapest option is if your running the 10speed option is a 9speed MTB long c...

Might want to add some insect repellent/bite stuff in your bags, did a 85km road ride in the hills above Lucca last May and although there wasn't Scottish clouds of them, I would swear the buggers had bigger teeth.

Could be interested in those myself. Nice looking flare with a conventional looking top/hood area.

Re: Goals
Getting the Dirty Reiver completed is my first goal. After that, get my first overnighter done, still short of a few essentials though. Ride more, going to aim for 8500km after doing 7500 last year. And make sure I enjoy it all, I ride for fun at the end of the day, I don't want to feel like its a c...

Re: Whats your SCR FCN?
I wasn't aware of rules!! Only been overtaken once, on a long draggy climb by a bloke on quite a pricey looking e-bike (oh the shame of it ;-) )
Not a lot of point on my commute, don't see many people and they tend to be going the other way.

Re: looking back, and looking forward...
That's bloody impressive for some one who has only just started riding. Strava tells me my annual distance is just over 7500km. On a diverse collection of bikes. A lot of that was commuting and for next year I'm going to try riding to work more regularly, not being so girly about a bit of rain. I'll...

Re: What's your dream bikepacking setup?
Something like Ian's Stand up there for me, custom paint, 1x 11 XTR group set. Would have to go for something bouncy up front I think though.
Failing that a carbon Salsa Spearfish.
