After the above, needs to be suitable for heavy downpours/rain as got caught out the other day and showerproof jacket didn't cut it.
Also generally looking for any size small cycling gear.
Thanks.

Re: On road trip - packing/loading advice
Sorry if this sounds obvious but why go for panniers for a road tour? While there's no rough terrain or tight tracks to worry about I still think soft luggage has considerable benefits on tarmac too, its just a case of paring down your kit enough that it matters not what you ride or where you go as...

Re: On road trip - packing/loading advice
Thanks, useful stuff - best get a bigger dry bag for the freeload then! (Was planning to put everything on the back!) Any other tips? I am getting some less knobbly tyres, considered a rigid fork (but don't think it's worth the investment as only a couple of days trip and will return to 'normal' tri...

On road trip - packing/loading advice
Hi all, I am planning an on road trip and after some advice. I am going to use a pannier rack/panniers for first time and have my freeload rack for the front but what is the best way to load the bike? All on the rear? Split between front and back? I was thinking of just using my bikepacking stuff bu...

Re: Weight on front end
I've read your review a few times over the last 24 hours!s8tannorm wrote: BTW ... the Freeload racks are great
Is the only difference between the racks 15mm in width? And the side support bits?
Looks like I'll be spending more money soon!

Weight on front end
Hi everyone, I'm after a bit of advice about weight on the front of the bike/general attaching of equipment. I've been really keen on a freeload for a while and like the idea of getting one a bit cheaper and with freeload on it (rather than Thule). My current set up is Alpkit 8l drybag with pipe dre...

Re: Tarps
This should fit the bill. 2.5m x 1.5m, 178g and £40. http://www.fieldandtrek.com/terra-nova-competition-tarp-1-783187 Looks good to me, thanks for finding, although since last post I may have found someone to make me one. Very excited now as either way should be able to reduce weight by alot (I'd b...

Tarps
Hi, I am after a bit of a weight reduction in my tarp (my old beast is very heavy and takes up far too much room). Unfortunately the solo tarp from backpacking light is no longer available and I can't seem to find anywhere selling a siltarp1. Anyone have any suggestions? Ideally looking for approx 2...
